Sydney Johnson is a singer and songwriter who has been singing and performing for almost 20 years, 10 of which have been spent studying vocal technique with private lessons. She began private voice lessons in 2012 and has studied both classical and musical theatre. Her knowledge of vocal technique is very broad! Also, as part of the Open Jar Institute Intensive in the summer of 2019, Sydney spent a week in New York under the tutelage of Broadway performing dancers and actors as well as group coaching with Stacia Fernandez, a Broadway vocal coach and producer. Although teaching is new to her, she enjoyed every moment in the summer of 2020 where she helped teach music from Moana and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to children ages 8-15. Throughout the years, Sydney has been a student of many different disciplines. There is so much she feels she can share with her students!
We at Drama Llama are so pleased to partner with Sydney Johnson to bring you voice lessons with attention to the proper use of the tools you were born with. Sydney concentrates on proper breathing through breathing and vocal exercises that help you strengthen your "head" voice to keep you singing for years to come. In the new year, we will be adding note recognition to our lessons to help students identify musical notes which will help with sight reading. We also offer the chance to show everyone your progress by presenting a recital twice a year in an informal setting. No pressure, just fun!
